Normally roll up just after 9 so should have something ready by about 11ish - Phil (B), one thought is the BSAs were made in a number of lengths with the recommendation being that a new spring might need a coil cutting off as they only made one length of spring - too long if going in one of the slightly shorter cylinders, worth a try?

Don't joke Mike - it is worryingly addictive!

Cutting the spring down (or collapse a coil) is about all that you can do with these, mine has about 1.5 inch of preload before the trigger block engages with the cylinder if that's any help. Check the leather piston seal hasn't dried out and not sealing properly, it will cause piston slam.
They are fantastic fun, brilliant guns, someone converted one to PCP.......

What surprised me is how much nicer the 1914 BSA is than the 1952 Airsporter!

my that is a big one bob !, just measured mine and its the same , so cutting down a spring or in this case two is ok then ? , is a good place to start one complete coil on each or less than that ?, the seal is new but I did follow the instructions to size it then soaked it in cooking oil for a day before fitting , guess I ll just nibble away at the springs a bit at a time until it becomes better mannered
